The NOVA Expo 2025 Unites All Sectors to Boost Economic Value and Champion Climate Legislation for Sustainable Carbon Reduction

Bangkok, Thailand – The NOVA Expo 2025 is set to bring together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors, business leaders, and academia in a landmark collaboration aimed at driving economic value and promoting sustainability in the construction industry. The event will serve as a platform for knowledge-sharing on carbon reduction while supporting the development of Thailand’s construction sector.

With an annual market value estimated at 1.5 – 2 trillion baht, the construction industry is a major contributor to Thailand’s economy. However, it also generates 30 – 50 million tons of carbon emissions annually, making it a significant factor in climate change. As the sector is projected to grow by 10 – 15% in 2025, industry leaders emphasize the need for innovation and cooperation to mitigate its environmental impact.

By integrating advanced technologies and fostering cross-sector collaboration, NOVA Expo 2025 aims to position Thailand’s construction industry as a key driver of sustainable development. The event also seeks to amplify discussions on the proposed Climate Act, reinforcing Thailand’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing toward a greener future.

Decarbonization

What Is Decarbonization?

Decarbonization refers to the process of reducing or eliminating the carbon content of an energy system, economy, or a specific activity. The primary goal of decarbonization is to mitigate climate change by decreasing the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere.

The term is often associated with efforts to transition away from fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, which release significant amounts of carbon dioxide when burned for energy. Fossil fuel combustion is a major contributor to the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, leading to global warming and climate change.

Decarbonization strategies typically involve the adoption of cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, such as renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal), and the implementation of energy-efficient technologies. Additionally, efforts may focus on improving energy efficiency in various sectors, transitioning to electric vehicles, and promoting sustainable practices in industries.
